This song is about us always trying to look outside for something in our lives that we think will make us happy, fix us, or end in lasting happiness - when really all the answers we need are already inside. There’s ‘nothing more’ out there. To quote buddhist teacher Thich Naht Hanh ‘The way out is in’.
Before I'd decided more on the chorus lyics, I called this song 'nothings owned', which was going to be a meaning and story more about our human ego and greed getting in the way of things. But I felt like singing 'nothing more' had a much better ring to it and then the rest of the verse lyrics flowed to centre the meaning that it now holds.
